Welcome to Bungay, Suffolk – a thriving market town in the heart of the Waveney Valley

Bungay is a beautiful historic market town, in the heart of the Waveney Valley, with roots that can be traced back to Roman times.

Nestling within a wide meander of the river Waveney, which forms the border between Norfolk and Suffolk, Bungay was, and is, in an excellent position then, to ward off invaders, now to explore the delights of both Norfolk and Suffolk.

Standing proudly in the centre of Market Place is the 17th century domed Butter Cross topped by a statue of Justice. Originally paired with a Corn Cross (long since demolished), it flagged up Bungay’s importance as a vibrant market town.
