Trader Application

Applications for the Christmas Market on Sunday December 5th are now closed. Applications for the 2022 Garden Market are not yet open.

Please select the Christmas Market option to make your application.  Please be aware that we always get far more applications than we have spaces so there is no guarantee that you will get a pitch. Please be patient as you won’t hear anything back for a few weeks.

Important information for food sellers:

Natasha’s Law requires full labelling of ingredients on all prepacked food.
All food presented to consumers face to face, in packaging, before they select or order it, and which is packed on the same premises from which it is offered (including a mobile site if packed by the same business) is caught by the new allergen labelling law relating to pre-packed for direct sale food. For example, bakery products which are packed at the food businesses’ premises and then sold from the premises, on a mobile sandwich van or at a food fayre.
The food must be labelled with the name of the food and a list of ingredients, with any of the 14 main allergens emphasised if these are present in the food.
The Food Standards Agency has produced a useful toolkit in relation to the new law:… Within the toolkit are links to specialist guides, for example for bakers, butchers and farm shops etc.
The Food Standards Agency also provides free allergens training and resources, which can be found here:…/allergy-training-for-food…
Business companion has also produced the following helpful guidance:…/prepacked-for…
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has also produced a food allergen resource, including information on the new allergen labelling law for pre-packed for direct sale food:…/food-allergen-resource
If you have any queries regarding the new law or would like a visit to receive tailored advice and guidance relevant to your business and product range, please contact us via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133.

    Street Market Terms & Conditions

No-one will be allowed onto the street before 7am. After everyone has arrived the street is closed to traffic and will remain a pedestrianised area until the market ends at 4pm. At the end of the market, traders MUST seek permission from event staff before they bring any vehicles onto Earsham Street. We have a staggered arrival system and you will be notified of your arrive time when your pitch is confirmed.

All vehicles must enter Earsham Street from the Butter Cross entrance and the town’s one-way system must be observed.

Unload at your pitch as quickly as possible and remove your vehicle to the car park in Scales Street (behind Earsham Street, accessed via Chaucer Street) BEFORE setting up. Vehicles MUST be parked in the car parks at Scales street, NOT on the road.

Please clear up all of your rubbish, especially food/drink sellers. And please ensure that you collect up any rubbish around your stall throughout the day. There will be bins along the street but do bring sacks/boxes to remove your own rubbish at the end of the market.

Whilst the market organizer has Public Liability Insurance, this does not cover individual traders who must ensure they have the appropriate licenses to trade and their own PLI.

Things happen and we understand that having booked and paid you might not be able to attend. Please let us know asap so we may invite another trader. No reimbursements will be made after three weeks before the market.

More and more traders are taking card payments and we urge you to equip yourself to do this if you don’t already. But Bungay does now have a 24-hour ATM outside the Council Offices in Broad Street.

We wish you a very successful and enjoyable market!
