Shadowlands – Exhibition at the Merlina Gallery

Subtitled A Collaborative Exhibition about Witchcraft and the Wrongly Persecuted Local Women, this exhibition from artist Diana Capstick looks at the dark history of witchcraft and the cruel persecution of, mostly, women. The exhibition focusses on the atrocities committed by the infamous Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins when witchcraft was outlawed in 1602. Hopkins was a Suffolk man who hunted and persecuted over 300 locals mostly ill educated and poor people who were often midwives, healers and herbalists.
As part of the exhibition, on Saturday 23rd March, from 4pm – 6pm, L M West, who has authored three books on the subject of the Suffolk witches will be giving reading and talk

Thursday March 28th/29th /30th /31st and 1st April 10 till 3 pm
