Black Shuck Festival
August 4 @ 4:30 pm - 10:00 pm

On the 4th August in 1577 the Black Dog of Bungay terrorised the congregation of St. Mary’s as it fearfully prayed during a violent thunderstorm. This visitation from the demon Black Shuck still sends shivers down our spines but to commemorate this important part of our mythology a new Black Shuck Festival will take place in Bungay each year.
This year sees a precursor to the Black Shuck Festival – a one day event held on Thursday 4th August.
Entry is free – but donations are welcome. Donations also welcome for the wine & cheese refreshments in the interval at St. Mary’s.
With thanks to Mariko Aruga West for her image of the famous Black Dog of Bungay.
Beware the hedgerows and dark places…
