In 2021 The Bungay Society celebrated it’s 50th anniversary.  The Society was formed to preserve, conserve and record all that is best about Bungay, from its historic buildings to its traditions and to its ‘living memory’.

Each year the Society publishes a Journal, currently edited by local historian and assistant curator at Bungay Museum Chris Reeve.  These journals show the Bungay Society’s view on current affairs as they relate to Bungay as well as containing trips down memory lane of how Bungay used to be and these are precious recollections that would be lost, were it not for the Bungay Society.

At its 25 year anniversary the Bungay Society published The Watchdog Wags His Tail, a collection of articles from the previous 25 year’ Journals.

Now, at its 50th Anniversary, and to coincide with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Society has published the Jubilee Journal.

In a collaboration with Clays printers the Jubilee Journal is a collection of articles and pictures from the last 25 years.  Some of the authors are no longer with us sadly, but their memories live on. And in  25 year time – will we look back and wonder what the Coronavirus poems were about?

The Jubilee Journal is available for £9.99 from A Sweet For You, Mouse, Cork Bricks, No 11 on the Butter Cross, the Old Bank Tearoom, Bigod’s Kitchen, Castle Inn, the Recycled Weasel and Bungay Library.
