Bungay, SuffolkBungay Flower Club

ArrangementBriefly, the Club was formed in 1982 when Founder President, the late Mrs Bunty Eke, advertised for ‘ladies interested in joining a Flower Club’.   The Church Hall was filled to capacity, chairs having to be borrowed, and so the Club came into being under the auspices of The National Association of Flower Arrangers and the East of England Area, of which the Club is a member through Norwich Group.

Bungay Flower Club has gone from strength to strength over the years, keeping place with changes occuring in styles, available flowers and a wealth of demonstrators. Now one of the best in the Area.

The 35th Anniversary will be celebrated in March 2017 with a members’ lunch at Brasteds and a big and beautiful Flower Festival in St Mary’s Church, Bungay first weekend of July, the theme being Books in Bloom.

The Membership stays at around the 65 mark with several Founder members still active.
Monthly Club Nights are held on the first Monday of the month (the following Monday if there is a bank holiday) at the Emmanuel Rooms, Boyscott Lane.   Nine have demonstrations, one is a garden meeting and one a Members’ evening...this can be an outing.   Several lunches/outings are organised in addition each year.

The active Chair selects two charities each term of two years and the Club regularly presents her choices with £1000 each at the end of her office. Current Chair is Mrs Derinda Starling, Vice Chair Mrs Lorraine Collier and President Mrs Yvonne Organ.   These Officers will serve until 2018 February.

Guests are always welcome at our meetings.  Membership cost is £24 a year, best value in town.
